KBRN, Purbalingga: Indonesia currently only meets three percent of the total global demand for processed coconut fiber products. The potential for coconut fiber exports in the country is still very large, considering the abundant number of coconut trees in this country. "The demand for cocofiber in China is very high and unlimited. In addition, cocopeat is also widely sought after as a planting medium because not all land can be planted. So, the need for cocopeat is very large," explained Ichsan Mobaidi while providing training in Panusupan Village which was held on Tuesday (13/8/2024). Ichsan added that the need for coconut fiber is also high in the domestic market. An example is the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) in Pacitan, which uses cocopeat as one of the fuels. However, this need has not been fully met by the local community. This training was held by the Public Housing and Settlement Area Service (Disperakim) of Central Java Province as a follow-up to the ATR/BPN certification of Purbalingga Regency. "This training is part of an effort to increase access to Agrarian Reform, with a focus on utilizing abundant coconut fiber waste in Panusupan Village," said Sub Coordinator of the Land Development and Control Section of Disperakim Yusticia Dewi Maharani. Disperakim collaborates with Oesaka Indonesia to provide training on various coconut fiber processed products, including pots, bags, hats, and brooms. "We hope that this training can empower the people of Panusupan Village, especially mothers and fathers, to utilize coconut fiber waste. This is expected to improve the economic welfare of the village," added Yusticia. source: RRI.co.id
